Maison Rainsford-Hanson 672 rue Sainte-Madeleine
La maison Rainsford-Hanson a porté le numéro 230 (1880-1893), puis 490 (1893-1929) puis 672 (1929 à nos jours). La forme usuelle donnée au nom de la rue a évolué de Magdalen, à St. Magdeline, à St. Magdalen, à St Madeleine, à Ste Madeleine puis à Sainte-Madeleine. Elle a été ainsi nommée en l’honneur de Dame Marie-Catherine Huot, dite Sœur Sainte-Madeleine, supérieure de la Congrégation des Sœurs de Notre-Dame de Montréal, qui a initié la vente par lots de la Ferme de la Pointe-Saint-Charles en 1856. La maison Rainsford-Hanson est construite sur les lots 3129 et 3130 de la Municipalité de la paroisse de Montréal inscrit au cadastre le 15 août 1873 (aujourd’hui lot 1 381 258, Cadastre du Québec, Division de Montréal). Alors qu’elle a eu 16 propriétaires, la maison a été habitée par 30 ménages depuis sa construction en 1880. Les 24 premiers ménages étaient locataires soit depuis sa construction jusqu’en 1959. Les six ménages suivants en étaient propriétaires.
